Lightning Classes
What is a Lightning Class?

A Lightning Class is a fast, free online class on 3ds max given on short notice. Attendees are informed via email 15-30 minutes before class begins, and are instructed where to go to take the class. The instructor's screen is "beamed" to attendee's screens, and verbal instruction is given either by typed chat or via a voice Internet service such as Skype. Attendance in a Lightning Class is limited to the first 20 people to arrive.

How do I participate in a Lightning Class?

If you want to hear voice instruction for those classes where it is available, download the free voice chat software Skype. You will need a multimedia headset* to hear the instruction clearly. Skype and a multimedia headset are not required for the class.
When a class is announced via email (usually 15-30 minutes before the class begins), follow the instructions in the email to attend the class.

*A multimedia headset is not the same as stereo headphones or a cell phone headset. A multimedia headset includes a microphone and has two plugs, one for headphones and one for the microphone. If in doubt, try your headset before attending a Lightning Class to ensure it works with Skype. If it does not, you can follow the class via the typed chat.
